We held several presentations around our school campus and gave an intro to the issue surrounding domestic violence, why it is important to spread awareness, and what we can do to help those in need.
Above is a slideshow of the information that we presented to different classes around our school!
Building Healthy Relationships Workshop
We held a workshop where over 30 students came to understand the signs of an abusive relationship and how to build/maintain healthy ones. We started off with a true/false activity with statistics and ended with an activity called "Walk the Line," where we read out a storyline of a fake relationship that went from healthy to abusive, and audience members sat down when they think that they would leave the relationship. We had discussions over each activity and the overall significance of healthy relationships with friends, family, and other loved ones.
Above is the presentation that we explained to our audience during our workshop!
DONATION DRIVE
For two weeks, we held a donation drive targeted towards individuals and families affected by domestic violence at the Rainbow Services Shelter in San Pedro. Donations and additional purchased products were combined to form a care package, each including a pair of socks, shampoo, body gel, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, and a tissue pack! We were able to make 257 care packages!
FUNDRAISERS
We held two fundraisers at our school to raise extra money for our project to buy supplies for our care packages. We raised over $250!
