Domestic violence is truly a major issue in our society. This year, our GBLA team at CAMS sought to ensure that we raise awareness for domestic violence and abuse because it seems to go unnoticed; we wanted to dedicate our project to supporting victims of domestic violence and to give a voice to those who are unable to speak for themselves. A change needs to be made to bring justice to victims of domestic violence, and we did our best to make a difference by reaching as many people as we possibly could've to spread the word and promote change. No victim of domestic violence and abuse should feel alone. We sought to provide support through supply drives in which we prepared individual care packages with essentials that a woman wold need. We also made efforts to raise awareness of this issue through presenting about the signs of domestic violence, the short-term and long-term effects, and how we can all be aware of this issue and prevent it for the well-being of women and the benefit of our society.
Moving Forward - The Future
Let's talk about goals. First and foremost, our project turned out to be a success! This outcome could not have been achieved without the great collaborative efforts and the amount of time and dedication that our wonderful GBLA team put into this project. Next year, our CAMS GBLA plans to aim for an impact even beyond our community. To make that happen, we plan to engage with more major organizations and social justice movements to advocate whichever topic we choose.
