On October 24th, 2020, 92 female-identified students from our school were given the opportunity to attend the Hello Future Convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center. At the convention, there were several STEM-related workshops and many entrepreneurs, tech innovators, and brands to inspire and encourage students to look into possible future careers. Many of the workshops involved creating commuter programs, observing science experiments and chemical reactions, and understanding health safety techniques. One workshop was hosted from the LA Fire Department where students were able to learn CPR and different important life-saving tips, as well as the skills necessary to be a firefighter. Another workshop from BuroHappold Engineering, where students were able to learn about how engineers are able to use V/R technology to solve real world problems. The experience was very rewarding and allowed our students to talk one on one with innovators and scientists about their careers.
