by Shua Cho Our CAMS Girls Build LA team held Scratch Workshops online to teach kids how to code, teach about marine plastic pollution, and teach proper safety precautions during COVID-19.
We were able to code and teach two Scratch games. We created helpful instructions for the learners and were able to help them have fun experiences coding. Additionally, the participants of our workshop were able to learn about plastic marine pollution facts and about COVID-19. One of our games is an I Spy game called Sea Search where you try to find plastic trash hidden in the ocean while learning facts about marine plastic pollution. The other game that we taught students how to code was a platformer game where the player would have to stay six feet away from other characters, wear a mask, and get hand sanitizer.
